What we take on
Every job below is run by the two of us. Kitchens and bathrooms are the center of the business. The rest is work we take because it is the same work at a different size.
Kitchens and bathrooms
This is most of our work and the work we are best at.
A kitchen or a bathroom is a small room with almost every trade in it. Layout and framing, plumbing runs, electrical and lighting, tile, cabinetry, countertops, and the finish work that decides whether it looks right. Moving a sink means moving a drain. Adding an island means adding circuits. It is one job, not six.
We run all of it ourselves, in the order it needs to happen. When something turns up behind a wall, and it usually does, you hear about it from one of us the same day, along with what it changes.
You will not get a different tile setter than the one who quoted you. The people who measured your room are the people who will be standing in it.
Whole-house remodels
Several rooms, one schedule, one point of contact.
Kitchens, bathrooms, floors, built-ins and lighting handled as a single project instead of a series of separate ones. Sequencing is most of the value: doing the work in the right order keeps you from paying twice to open the same wall.
We can work room by room so you keep part of the house usable, or take the whole thing at once if you are moving out for it.
On a job this long you get to know your contractor. It helps that there are only two of us to know, and that we are there daily.
Additions
New square footage that ties into the house you already have.
Extending a room, building out the back, or adding a detached structure in the yard. Additions involve foundation, framing, roofing, mechanical and finish work, plus permits and inspections.
The hard part is usually the seam: making the new part sit right against the old part, in line and in scale, so the house does not read as two houses.
We keep the same two people on the job from the first framing to the last coat, which is how the seam ends up right.
General contracting
We run the job: the trades, the sequence and the inspections.
If your project involves more than one trade, we can take it on and manage it end to end. We hold the license, pull the permits, schedule the work and deal with the inspector.
If you already have drawings, bring them. If you do not, we will tell you whether you need them.
A general contractor who is on site is a different job from one who is on the phone. We are on site.
How an estimate works
You call or email one of us. We come out and look at the space, ask what you want, and take measurements. Then we price it and send you the number.
It is free, and we will estimate any remodel. If we think the job is wrong for us we will say so rather than pad the price.
